Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing application drawings for products using CAD systems, managing mechanical projects from start to finish, and fostering customer relations through on-site interactions and virtual communications. The position offers opportunities for international collaboration with engineering teams in Canada and Austria, and participation in development projects and prototype designs. Responsibilities Design application drawings for products using CAD (2D and 3D) systems. Generate production drawings for in-house and subcontracted shops. Manage mechanical portion of the project from start to finish. Create, control, and maintain order release packages and design files. Travel to perform presentations, audits, measure-ups, and start-up support at mill sites as necessary, up to 50% of the time. Foster customer relations to obtain necessary information through on-site measure-ups, MS team calls, and drawing exchanges. Execute technical calculations to ensure the safety and integrity of mechanical custom components. Prepare technical documentation and procedures, and perform product inspections and dimensional checks. Create communication documentation, including presentations and video calls, to convey key design aspects to clients or manufacturing partners. Collaborate internationally with engineering teams in Canada and Austria. Participate in development projects and prototype design. Perform other duties as identified by company leadership. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced skills in performing technically challenging tasks without supervision. Experience in designing custom-specific technical components for special customer applications. Proficiency in engineering, AutoCAD, CAD, 2D, and 3D systems. Experience in manufacturing engineering, mechanical design, and drafting. Project management and coordination skills. Paper industry experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets. Experience in process improvement and process engineering. Work Environment The position requires up to 50% travel, with trips starting potentially within the first month. Travel is during the working week and includes visits to facilities in Austria and Canada. The role is 100% onsite with potential travel to Austria for training in the first year. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Chesapeake, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr. 10 paid holidays in the calendar year. Vacation is 10 days (prorated in the first year), 15 days after 5 years, 20 days after 15 years. Up to 80 hrs can be rolled over into next year. Sick days, 6 per calendar year 401k, matching contributions 100% up to 4% Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Chesapeake,VA.
