Job Description
Summary:
As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building commissioning and test fixtures that integrate mechanical and electrical components. Your work will help standardize hookups, reduce setup times, and minimize user errors. This role involves defining and documenting commissioning workflows, developing repeatable test methods, and supporting early builds to identify and recommend design improvements.Responsibilities:
Design and build commissioning/test fixtures with mechanical and electrical integration. Define and document commissioning workflows including setup steps, test sequences, acceptance criteria, and troubleshooting guidance. Develop and validate repeatable test methods and translate them into consistent processes. Create and maintain technician-ready documentation such as work instructions, checklists, and visual guides. Support bring-up and early builds by identifying failure modes and recommending design improvements. Drive iteration by prototyping quickly, testing with real users, and refining fixture designs. Support transfer of fixtures/processes to a contract manufacturer or remote team as needed.Qualifications:
Mechanical engineering and mechatronics expertise. Proficiency in Solidworks and mechanical design. Experience with motors and sensor technology. Hands-on ability to design and debug electromechanical systems. Experience in building fixtures or test setups and creating documentation and training materials. Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working in a lab or production-like environment.Additional Qualifications:
Experience with industrial automation components such as PLCs, motor drives, and sensors. Familiarity with DFM/DFT principles and production scaling considerations. Basic CAD skills and experience working with fabrication vendors. Experience collaborating with CM partners and creating transfer packages. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bedford, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
