The Senior Powertrain Product Engineer will be responsible for complex component and sub-system design & release activities supporting program execution as well as development of department testing methodologies and best practices. The role will also participate in ongoing process improvement discussions with department leadership and assist in the growth and development of early career engineers. The position is in Allen Park, MI.Duties and ResponsibilitiesApply relevant engineering analysis to create new component & subsystem designsWork with CAD resources to develop 3D models and 2D prints and work with CAE resources to analytically validate designsDevelop & execute hardware test plans to validate function while maintaining relevant DVP&R documentationProcess dataDocument test resultsReport on status both internally as well as externally to customersInterface and coordinate with suppliers to deliver both protype parts and production solutionsSupport prototype and pre-production build events along with production launchesAssist in translating customer needs into program-specific design requirements and feasible design conceptsGenerate new dFMEA content and DVP methods as needed for unique program applicationsLead recurring internal and customer facing sub-system design & validation progress reviews in accordance with project timelinesDevelop and maintain engineering core documents for department usage (dFMEA, DVP, Lessons Learned, Engineering Guidelines & Best Practices, etc.)Support the mentorship, on-the-job training, and technical guidance early career engineering staffPowertrain functional responsibilities may vary on an individual project basis and a willingness to switch disciplines as needed is critical for success and longevity in this role.

Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) components and sub-systems for gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuel applicationsAir Induction & FiltrationExhaust & Aftertreatment Systems (Pipe & Muffler, Catalysts, Isolation, etc.)Fuel Systems (storage / supply) for gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuel (CNG, LPG) applicationsPowertrain Thermal Systems (engine cooling and HVAC)Transmission and/or driveline systemsEducation and Experience (Required)Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related technical degreeMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorshipMinimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience with basic understanding of all powertrain subsystemsFormal GD&T training or equivalent on-the-job experienceHigh mechanical aptitude with ability to read technical prints and assembly instructionsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to convey complex technical information to a variety of audiencesAbility to handle new, and sometimes unfamiliar technical assignments / challenges with minimal guidance and ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently or in a team while handling multiple assignments simultaneouslyProficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Education and Experience (Preferred)Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical disciplineLicensed Professional Engineer (PE)Production development and launch experience in automotive, military, agricultural, or commercial truck industry with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Tier 1 supplierApplied experience generating unique dFMEA and DVP&R documentsAdvanced applied skills or specialization in at least two or more powertrain subsystemsBasic 3D CAD software capabilities to be able to generate initial basic design concepts/sketchesComprehensive understanding of prototype and production assembly & manufacturing processes as well as fabrication and machining methodologiesPrior professional experience leading and/or mentoring early career engineersOur full-time benefits include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, earned sick time, STD, LTD, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, paid holidays, and more.
