The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River , located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley , located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. MCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission . In addition, several programs have specific accreditations as well.

Job Summary Full-time members of the faculty are professional educators who have the primary responsibility of instruction and management of assigned classes. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling the Metropolitan Community College mission, vision, values, strategic plan, Board of Trustees' charges and educational philosophy, and primary goal of providing a quality education for all students attending the college. Final compensation offer will be determined, based on various factors, such as academic credentials, relevant work and instructional experience. Essential Functions Deliver effective instruction
  • Provide quality instruction, which is reflective of current discipline standards and is accurate, relevant, and engaging using college
  • approved curriculum and resources Assess student learning
  • Demonstrate reflective practice, including assessment of student learning. This includes ongoing formative assessments, as well as official departmental assessment Manage classes and learning environments
  • Foster a positive classroom-learning environment by presenting information in a way that is inclusive to all learners, including the assurance of section 508 accessibility Promote continual improvement as part of the cycle of teaching and learning Support learning through student engagement by incorporating pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem-based activities, and other successful teaching strategies into classroom instruction Provide student guidance•Help students develop academic habits for college success Pursue professional development by staying current in academic field Actively participate collegially in department, campus, cross-college, discipline specific, district, and community service activities Perform other duties as assigned to provide high-quality learning experience for students, including participating in commencement, attending college functions, etc.
Coordination of Honda PACT Program Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in one of the following: Automotive Technology Automotive Engineering OR Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Mast Technician with Auto Maintenance Light Repair (G1) Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1) Five (5) or more years of shop experience OR A combination of formal training, work experience and professional tested experience that provide a foundation in the specific subject matter being taught
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant work experience with Honda vehicles or training specific to Honda PACT certification. Bachelor's degree in discipline or related discipline Significant OEM training history with documentation Additional ASE Certifications beyond Master Technician Classroom and laboratory teaching experience in a college setting Experience with student assessment Experience with curriculum design Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Training experience in an automotive industry setting Retail Dealership Technician experience Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of a diverse community Demonstrated interest in and passion for teaching community college students Ability to work well with others Strong oral and written communication skills Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically requires feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
