Unmanned Systems Technician About F-ADA:
F-ADA is a defense tech startup building autonomy software for unmanned systems. We allow end-users to retrain mission-specific AI models in the field, and deploy them on ultra low-cost hardware. We have active contracts with the Department of War and are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team.
The Role:
F-ADA is seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to support the deployment, maintenance, and operation of drone platforms in the field. As a founding team member you will have the opportunity to work on real problems from day one, take on an incredible amount of responsibility in a high ownership environment, and grow with the company as we scale. You will have the opportunity to design, build, prototype and test unmanned systems in the field while participating in ongoing research and development efforts and supporting live production contracts. This position is great for individuals who care about building real systems and testing them. Your primary responsibilities will be leading flight tests, ensuring high standards for hardware before and after tests, and prototyping new designs and sensor integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and lead flight test operations
  • Prototype designs for quadcopter and fixed wing testing platforms, including experimental builds and new sensor integrations
  • Manage and maintain a fleet of unmanned systems, performing pre-flight and post-flight inspections
  • Design and build new platforms such as autonomous boats, submersibles, and ground vehicles
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with 3D printing, soldering, and CAD software (ex: Onshape/Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of UAV electronics, sensors, and GCS configurations
  • Ability to identify, repair, or replace mechanical and electrical system failures
  • Must have a valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ardupilot or PX4 open source firmware
  • Willingness to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
  • Previous experience piloting, working with, or designing UAVs
  • Knowledge of CAM software and CNC machine operations
