Job Description
WilliamsRDM, Inc., is a woman-owned, privately held small business in Fort Worth, known for its innovative product development and can do attitude. WilliamsRDM is proud tomanufacture a simple, affordable line of residential fire suppression products StoveTop FireStop that protects more than a million American families each day. Our fast paced assembly utilizes great employees along with automation to manufacture a premiere safety product. In addition to STFS,the company develops and manufactures more than 200 unique products all designed in house for the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. Among the many leading companies in these industries, WilliamsRDM has worked with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Halliburton, and Northrop Grumman. Many of the USAs most respected military aircraft the A-10, F-16, F-18, F-22, F-35, and V-22 use WilliamsRDM test equipment, cabling, and connector to keep them flying. WilliamsRDM is looking for a Principal Engineer to serve as the lead Mechanical Engineer in the company. Responsible for design, product design changes, product development, project management, process developments/improvements, manufacturing engineering support (for the StoveTop FireStop line), and mentoring/developing other Mechanical Engineers. Ensure equipment and process readiness. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and use of work force.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead Manufacturing/Process Engineer and technical support person for the StoveTop FireStop product line Make process improvements for the StoveTop FireStop line (Automation, Mfg Eng for STFS, cost reductions, etc.) Lead StoveTop FireStop product improvements Lead StoveTop FireStop derivative and next generation product development Support efforts to properly test and ensure quality in StoveTop FireStop and other products you support Support company-wide Mechanical Engineering function, ranging from specific design work to consulting on ME design projects/problems/SBIRs to mentoring/developing MEs Perform cross-departmental project management on specific projects or orders as assigned Maintain/prepare records, documentation and reports as needed Perform other tasks as assignedEducation & Training:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer license Must pass ATF backgroundSkills & Experience:
Minimum 10 years experience in Mechanical Engineering (Design) Minimum 5 years experience as technical support, manufacturing engineer, or project manager in a manufacturing environment ; experience in high-volume mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly is preferred Injection molded part design, mold design, and part production, required. Experience with assembly line automation, including design, improvement, and part production, required. New product development or introduction experience. Pneumatic and hydraulic components experience preferred. Supervisory/Management experience preferred Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Project, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Demonstrated CAD experience; ability to create engineering design documents required using 3D modeling software. Familiarity with best practices and safe manufacturing practices requiredAbilities/Traits:

Read and understand engineering drawings, directions, and product/process specifications Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic principles Ability to read and understand wiring schematics Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively, both orally and in writing Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; work courteously, diplomatically and tactfully with customers and employees Ability to lead or manage a project team, set and work toward goals, assign tasks, give feedback, listen, engage employees, motivate, develop employees, apply policies/procedures Ability to mentor other engineers on both technical and interpersonal skills Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles Knowledge of general manufacturing engineering practices and principles, including high-volume automation equipment/practices, as well as production process and equipment in general Knowledge of lean manufacturing and six-sigma Knowledge of quality assurance processes and practices Knowledge of safety practices and processes, particularly as it relates to a production environment Ability to consistently follow all quality and company procedures and regulationsSimilar remote jobs
