Project Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer - Irvine, CAA well-established geotechnical engineering firm based in Irvine, CA is seeking a motivated and experienced Project Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful project responsibility within a collaborative, technically driven environment serving a diverse client base across Southern California and beyond.
The RoleAs a Project Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer, you will manage and execute geotechnical investigations from initial scoping through report delivery. You will coordinate field programs, oversee drilling and sampling operations, perform engineering analyses, and prepare geotechnical reports with foundation, grading, and earthwork recommendations. You will work across a variety of project types including residential and commercial land development, infrastructure, public works, and private sector clients.
ResponsibilitiesPlan and manage subsurface investigation programs including coordination of field crews, drilling contractors, and laboratory testingPerform geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, seismic/liquefaction, and lateral earth pressurePrepare and review geotechnical reports, grading plan reviews, and letters of complianceProvide construction observation and inspection support, including compaction testing oversightCollaborate with project teams, clients, and municipal agencies throughout project lifecycleMentor junior staff and support proposal developmentQualificationsBS or MS in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical), Geology, or related field4-10 years of experience in geotechnical consulting; Southern California experience preferredPE, GE, or PG licensure (or active pursuit thereof) strongly preferredProficiency with geotechnical software such as gINT, LPile, GeoStudio, or equivalentStrong technical writing skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with clientsWhy This RoleThis firm offers a stable project pipeline, a team-oriented culture, and a clear path for professional growth and licensure support.
