Job Description
This position is located in Division of Engineering. The supervisor is Raj Iyengar. This position IS subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position IS subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
is defined as experience that demonstrates a knowledge of the design, construction, operation, inspection, and/or evaluation of nuclear plant components, structures, and/or facilities to understand the value and impact of the requirements of proposed standards. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. Demonstrated knowledge of siting and safety of nuclear installations to understand the value and impact of the requirements of proposed standards. Experience should include geotechnical site and earthquake ground motion characterization, and dynamic response of rock, soil, and structures due to seismic ground motion as applied to nuclear installations. (Example) Describe specific training, education, and work experience that demonstrates your knowledge of siting and safety of nuclear installations to understand the value and impact of the requirements of proposed standards.Examples may include:
technical evaluations of static and dynamic soil and rock properties, slope stability, and seepage analysis; analysis/modeling of soil and rock under dynamic loads; and evaluation and design of earth retaining systems, embankment dams, structure foundations and ground improvement projects, and the application of semiempirical methods and modeling and simulation tools, using multi-physics and artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms and data analysis. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC's regulations, principles and procedures, regulatory guides, and industry codes and standards applicable to the safety of reactor systems. structures, and components. Examples may include experience that shows understanding of risk-informed approaches or impact of technological advances related to the siting and safety of nuclear installations. 3. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and control complex engineering, technical, and inspection projects. (Example) Describe your experience that demonstrates your ability to plan, coordinate, and control complex engineering, technical, and inspection projects. Provide examples of relevant projects that you have led. Describe the scope of the projects, the identification of technical challenges and their resolution, and your specific role in the projects. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a broad range of audiences on technical issues, challenges, and resolutions. (Example) Describe specific experiences and accomplishments communicating effectively orally and in writing with a broad range of audiences on technical issues, challenges, and resolutions. Describe examples of significant oral communications and impactful written products. A description of how you possess the specialized experience as well as how you meet the qualifications desired in an ideal candidate should be addressed in your resume.
