About the Role Carnow Conibear is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Environmental Engineering to lead and manage complex environmental projects across a diverse client base. This role is ideal for a seasoned environmental professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary projects from conception through completion. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for project execution, client relationship management, regulatory compliance, client acquisition, client development, and mentoring technical staff. Project work may include site investigations, remediation oversight, environmental compliance, and other environmental engineering services. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate all phases of environmental engineering and assessment projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction. Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans; monitor project performance and profitability. Manage all assigned projects properly to ensure they are profitable, within budget, and completed on time. Serve as a primary client contact, supporting business development and maintaining strong client relationships. Lead technical execution of projects, including Site Remediation Program, Leaking Underground Storage Tank, Resource Conservation Recovery Act, and other regulatory cleanup projects. Conduct and oversee all types of environmental investigations, assessments, and sampling as applicable. Generate remediation design and specifications for privately and publicly bid projects. Manage technical staff overseeing remedial activities. Respond to emergency situations and concerns quickly, communicate important facts to supervisor, and manage the remediation activities to completion. Develop, review, and sign off on technical reports, project designs, and regulatory submittals. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations (IEPA, EPA, IDPH, OSHA, RCRA, TSCA, HUD, etc.) Provide technical mentorship, training, and oversight to junior staff. Support department leadership with workload planning, staff development, and process improvement. Maintain accurate project documentation, QA/QC procedures, and health and safety standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or regulatory project work. Demonstrated experience managing complex environmental projects, budgets, and schedules. Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (IDPH, EPA, OSHA, HUD). Professional licenses preferred, including: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Professional Geologist (PG) license Excellent technical writing, data interpretation, and report preparation skills Proven ability to lead teams, manage subcontractors, and coordinate multiple active projects. Strong communication, organization, and problem?solving skills. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally. Mileage reimbursement provided Preferred Skills Experience overseeing environmental remediation or abatement contractors. Strong construction background. Familiarity with environmental modeling, sampling design, or remediation technologies. Experience with digital inspection platforms, environmental databases, or mobile field reporting tools. Ability to manage high?volume, technically complex projects in a fast?paced consulting environment. Interest in staff mentorship, leadership development, and departmental growth.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
