Job Description

We are hiring for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Columbia,MD.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist Engineers with the execution of multiple concurrent geotechnical projects. Work with internal clients (Staff Engineers, Geologists, Designers, etc.) while also coordinating efforts with external customers (clients, drilling subcontractors, etc.) to ensure effective workflow. Work with Field staff as well as coordinating with clients & contractors during field exploration. Perform geotechnical field explorations (test borings, test pits, infiltration testing, etc.) Assist with / perform geotechnical engineering investigations; this involves preparing reports and developing recommendations. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably a BS in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering). This person will be expected to work regularly in the field, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver's License as well as Reliable Transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
FE / EIT or obtain EIT within a year of their hire. Basic Geotechnical Engineering experience. Knowledge of soil mechanics, bearing capacity, settlement overseeing field-based construction inspection operations. Experience with observing and documenting construction activities (e.g.: concrete placement, deep & shallow foundation construction, earthwork, infiltration testing, basic survey & layout activity, test pits, test borings, etc.). Proficiency on standard office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365 (including Word, Excel, and Outlook). Familiarity with engineering tools (e.g.: geotechnical engineering software, CADD, etc.); exposure to OpenGround, and/or gINT is a plus! Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude. Excellent organizational skills: this person will be expected to multi-task / prioritize multiple assignments effectively in order to proactively balance their workload while meeting deadlines.
