Position Overview As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead subsurface investigations, analysis, and report development for a wide range of geotechnical projects. The position requires strong technical judgment, field oversight capabilities, and the ability to prepare clear, defensible engineering recommendations. You will also support construction observation/testing programs and help guide junior engineers toward technical and professional success. This role combines office‑based design and reporting with periodic site visits to observe investigations, collect data, and coordinate with field personnel. Key Responsibilities Lead geotechnical explorations including borings, test pits, soil logging, and laboratory testing review. Perform engineering calculations including bearing capacity, settlement analysis, earth pressures, pavement section design, and slope stability assessments. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports with clear recommendations and design parameters. Support and review construction materials testing (CMT), earthwork observation, and foundation inspections. Interpret subsurface data and evaluate soil and rock conditions to develop practical design solutions. Mentor junior engineers and field staff; provide workflow guidance and technical support. Coordinate with project managers, drilling crews, and construction personnel during site investigations. Assist with retaining wall design, pavement design, slope stability modeling, and foundation evaluations as part of professional growth. Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, documentation quality, and project communication. Ensure adherence to safety practices and company policies during both office and field operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical concentration (required). Professional Engineer (PE) license (required). Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience. Experience with geotechnical explorations, CMT programs, and construction oversight. Strong skills in bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and pavement design calculations. Proficiency in preparing geotechnical reports. Strong writing and verbal communication abilities. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. CADD experience preferred.
