Position Overview Path Forward Partners is seeking a Project-level Project Geologist or Engineer to join our growing team in Oakland, California. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys managing projects, mentoring staff, and working directly with clients and regulators. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, technically strong, and motivated to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing consulting environment. Key Responsibilities The Project Geologist will manage and execute a wide range of environmental projects, including: Directing and managing environmental projects with multiple tasks and data streams Performing and overseeing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments Managing subsurface investigations, including: drilling activities and soil boring log preparation and oversight of groundwater monitoring well and soil gas probe installation Collecting and overseeing sampling of: soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air Conducting and overseeing: contaminant fate and transport evaluations, remediation planning and implementation, construction oversight, ambient and construction air monitoring (PM, asbestos, VOCs) Applying knowledge of field sampling equipment, instruments, and field meters Interpreting and applying state and federal hazardous waste and environmental regulations Tabulating, evaluating, and interpreting environmental data using
Microsoft Excel Preparing:
technical reports and work plans (text, tables, figures, and data interpretation), project proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates Managing project budgets, schedules, and billing Communicating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies Mentoring and training junior staff to support professional development and quality work products Supporting business development and company marketing efforts Performing 10-40% fieldwork, primarily in California (with occasional travel beyond California) Required Qualifications B.S. or M.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field 5 to 10 years of experience in environmental consulting or related work California Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) strongly encouraged Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Strong technical writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to work independently and collaboratively Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Advanced Excel skills; MS Access experience a plus OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor Training (or willingness to complete; training provided if needed) Why Join Path Forward Partners?
