Welder (Trainee)

Bay Ship & Yacht Co., the leading shipyard on SF Bay, is searching for entry-level trainees for the welding and shipfitting department. The trainee is paid a good wage while moving through an accelerated training program with the potential to be a certified welder in 3 months, depending on aptitude.

Program summary:

No experience required , only ambition and the ability to work productively. The trainee receives a starting wage of $18 per hour and enters a one-month assessment period, followed by: A six-week basic training course in welding and shipfitting tools and processes, followed by: Two weeks in the welding school resulting in certification in steel plate welding. After the 90 day basic training period outlined above, the trainee will then practice and hone the new skills working on ships in the yard. Once sufficiently competent in the basic skills, the trainee will return to the school for further welding certifications and advanced shipfitter training. Successful candidates can expect wages to increase in the first year if they meet the expected criteria, with future potential as a journeyman earning $40+ per hour, long term job security, 401k + benefits, and a great career in the marine industry.
