In one of its business segments, HDW tests metallic and composite high-pressure vessels both destructively and non-destructively. Job Summary:
This client-facing position provides technical service and support for our Ultrasonic Examination (UE) and Modal Acoustic Emission (MAE) customers. In the UE business segment, Level 2 Operators are responsible for daily standardization of UE equipment, inspecting production cylinders, and/or overseeing Level 1 Operators. In the MAE business segment Level 2 Operators are responsible for inspections of composite wound pressure cylinders installed in trailers under the purview of the US DOT/PHMSA and Transport Canada. This position is responsible for installation of sensors, coupling checks, and data acquisition during the performance of critical pressure tests. Level 2 Operators collaborate with diverse engineering teams to improve inspection processes, gain efficiencies, and contribute to a culture of continual improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform critical MAE inspections of test articles to a written test procedure. Perform UT inspections to include thickness surveys and/or shear wave inspections to a written test procedure. Working at Heights with fall protection systems at 14+ feet. Perform visual inspections of test articles to a written test procedure. Capture, record, and ensure test data quality. Evaluate indications to a written procedure. Ensure safety of personnel and product is uncompromised during testing. Provide leadership and daily direction to the Level 1 Operators on the job site. Communicate internally, field issues, suggestions, and areas for improvement regarding the testing process. Other duties as assigned

Education, Certifications & Qualifications:
AAS in a technical field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and 2 years of demonstrated hands-on and mechanical skills in a highly skilled environment preferred where product safety is vital and following processes is critical or a BS in a technical discipline (i.e., Mechnical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.). ANST Level 2 certification in UT, AET, or ET preferred. Experience providing trouble-shooting support and related solutions for customers preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be a self-starter and internally motivated. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to people with varying levels of technical competencies to support testing activities. Strong analytical skills including problem solving skills and ability to determine root causes. Mechanically inclined. Strong people skills, including the ability to present a professional image at all times to customers. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work in a shop and team environment. Able to lead and complete projects in assigned work areas. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with a strong sense of urgency. Ability to lift 50+lbs routinely throughout a shift. Experience maneuvering a vehicle with a trailers is a plus. Spanish speaking is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position may work in the plant and outdoors in the field, therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat. The work described while working in the plant or field will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include: safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, leather gloves, safety vest, FR clothing, and steel toed boots. Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time both domestically and internationally
Pay:
$28.00 - $35.00 per hour
