Qualifications Must pass company-required weld qualification tests per
QUAL-SOP-14.5.3
5+ years of field welding experience in industrial environments. Strong understanding of WPS requirements, fillers, preheating, interpass temperature control, purging and heat control. Ability to interpret isometric drawings, weld symbols, and field modifications. Must have experience welding multiple types of pipes like Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Chrome and other alloys families. Must be able to assist pipe fitters in pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication while not actively welding. Possesses the ability to work effectively team up with other employees. He/She will keep the work area clean and organized. Must be able to work at heights as required. Attention to detail. Strong safety mindset. Mechanical aptitude. Key Responsibilities Perform GTAW and SMAW welding in all positions, including restricted positions on conventional or alloy piping systems.Weld high-alloy materials such as:
Chrome (1¼Cr, 2¼Cr, 5Cr, 9Cr) Stainless steel (304/316/321/347) Duplex and super-duplex Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and other Follow applicable WPS requirements, maintaining strict control of interpass temperature, heat input, purge quality, and filler selection. Perform weld joint preparation and cleanliness to prevent contamination, oxidation, or weld metal embrittlement. Maintain consistent weld quality despite wind, weather, humidity, temperature, and restricted access. Follow all site-specific safety rules and permits (hot work, confined space, elevated work, etc.). Identify hazards such as pressure boundaries, stored energy, heat stress, or oxygen-deficient areas.Properly set up:
Fire resistant welding screens or hooch's, fire watches, and spark containment measures. following the site's safety requirements Use all PPE including appropriate welding clothing, respirators, fall protection, and eye/hand protection. Produce welds meeting acceptance criteria for VT, RT, UT, PT, or MT as applicable. Read and follow WPS, P&IDs, ISO drawings, weld maps, and material specs. Maintain traceability (heat numbers, filler control, joint verification) according to the Welding Program and Quality Control Department expectations. Self-inspect welds before QC notification. Report weld defects, equipment issues, or deviations immediately. Meet or exceed daily weld count and productivity targets set by supervisors. Adapt to changing job priorities such as emergent repairs or shutdown critical path work. Work effectively with fitters, riggers, pipe crews, inspectors, and engineering when needed. Manage welding consumables efficiently, minimize rework, and maintain equipment readiness. Accurately documented weld numbers, joint completion, and material verification. Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and quality meetings. Communicate challenges early (access, fit-up issues, equipment damage, consumable needs). Support weld sequencing and field installation planning.Weld Test Pipe-Alloy Welder:

in addition to the following: No linear indications allowed. No visible porosity allowed. No incomplete fusion (cold lap) allowed. No tungsten craters or arc strikes/arc blow/arc marks allowed. No slag allowed. No incomplete penetration allowed. 1/32 in. (0.8 mm) root concavity (suck back) allowed, except for classification EX010 electrodes where zero root concavity is permitted. If the coupon thickness (T) is less than or equal to 1/4" (6.4 mm), the maximum internal weld reinforcement shall not exceed 1/16" (1.6 mm); above 1/4" (6.4 mm) coupon thickness (T), the maximum internal weld reinforcement shall not exceed 3/32" (2.5 mm). External reinforcement shall not exceed 1/8 in. Complete fusion of weld metal and base metal. Undercut shall not exceed 1/32 in., (0.8 mm). No blending with a file or post weld grinding is allowed, only wire brushing. Backing strip (if used) shall be fused for its entire length. Welders will not be able to back weld the coupon after the backing strip is removed.Note:
Welder shall not move the pedestal around after the weld is tacked into the 6G/6GR jig, until completion of the weld. Reporting Reports directly to the assigned Welding Foreman or Welding General Foreman and performs work in accordance with approved drawings, welding procedures, and work instructions. Collaborates daily with welding leads, pipe fitters, and other craft personnel to support proper sequencing, fit-up readiness, and efficient workflow. Coordinates with Quality Control and inspection personnel to facilitate required inspections, address weld acceptance issues, and support corrective actions or rework as directed. Works in alignment with Safety personnel to ensure compliance with site safety requirements, and safe work practices. Communicates equipment issues, material concerns, access constraints, and quality or safety observations promptly through the established supervision chain. Supports construction progress by responding to field direction and maintaining effective working relationships across all interfacing disciplines. Physical Requirements Employees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting. Will talk and hear to communicate. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements. Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
