Full-time Job Summary:

American Equipment Manufacturing is seeking a qualified Welding Inspector to join our quality control team in our production plant. American Equipment manufactures equipment to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII, Division 1, ASME

B31.3, API 12F, API

650, and customer requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing in-process and final visual inspections of welded pressure vessels, piping systems, tanks, and structural weldments to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with ASME Section VIII and related codes (i.e., ASME

B31.3, AWS D1.1

). Verify welder qualifications, WPS/PQR compliance, and proper documentation in line with code requirements. Perform/confirm dimensional layouts, nozzle projections, and dimensional accuracy of items throughout the manufacturing process. Conduct fit-up, root pass, and final weld inspections during fabrication. Ensure proper joint preparation, weld parameters, and consumables are used. Review fabrication drawings, welding maps, and isometric drawings to ensure welds meet project specifications. Witness and help document non-destructive examination (NDE) processes, including but not limited to RT, PAUT, MT, PT, Hydrotesting. Generate and maintain accurate inspection reports, travelers, welding maps, NDE maps and associated items. Collaborate with welders, production, engineering, and QA/QC teams to identify and resolve welding-related issues. Participate in audits, client and 3rd party inspections and ASME code stamp-related activities. Support the implementation of shop quality procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or associate degree in welding technology or similar field preferred). AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred; candidates without CWI may be considered with equivalent experience and strong inspection background. Minimum 1-3 years of experience performing welding inspections in ASME Section

VIII, ASME

B31.3, AWS, or API 12F fabrication environment. Familiarity with ASME BPVC, B31.3, and applicable welding standards. Working knowledge of

WPS/PQR/WPQ

documentation and welding metallurgy. Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to interpret blueprints and weld symbols. Basic understanding of NDE methods and ability to coordinate with NDE technicians. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).

Preferred Skills:

Previous experience with

ASME BPVC U

& R, shop documentation and inspections. Familiarity with NDE techniques and coordination (RT, PAUT, MT, PT). Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with welders, production staff, engineering, and third-party inspectors.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
