Job Description

Position Overview Twin Peaks, Inc., a construction materials testing and special inspections firm, is seeking a qualified Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support structural steel inspection projects throughout the New York City region. This role involves performing welding inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate holds a current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification and has experience working on construction or structural steel projects. Experience performing welding inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 and applicable structural steel codes and NYC special inspections or structural steel inspections is preferred. This position primarily supports first-shift operations , with occasional travel required depending on project needs. Key Responsibilities Perform welding inspections in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards Verify weld procedures, welder qualifications, and material compliance Observe welding operations and ensure adherence to approved welding procedures Document inspection findings and maintain accurate field reports Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and field personnel to ensure inspection requirements are met Identify and report non-conforming work and assist in resolving inspection-related issues Maintain organized documentation related to inspections and testing activities Follow company safety procedures and applicable site safety requirements Qualifications Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required Experience performing welding inspections on construction or structural steel projects Knowledge of welding codes and inspection procedures Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and welding symbols Strong documentation and reporting skills Excellent attention to detail and professionalism in field environments NDT experience is a plus, and compensable at a higher rate. Work Environment This role primarily supports first-shift field inspections . Occasional travel may be required depending on project assignments. $50.00 - $62.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
