Job Description
Quaker City Castings, a steel, iron, and nickel alloy foundry located in Salem, Ohio, is seeking candidates to fill several positions within our foundry operations. We are seeking an experienced NDT Level II Inspector in Visual Testing (VI) Mag Testing (MT) Liquid penetrant (LPT) to join our Salem, OH team. This position will have limited direct supervision, is responsible for performing a variety of simple to complex testing.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Visual Testing (VT) Mag Testing (MT) Liquid Penetrant (LPT) inspections.
- Perform welding inspections - AWS standards
- Perform inspections of work area and to other quality assessments such as Sand Testing, Tensile Testing, Charpy Testing and Jominy Testing.
- Read, interpret, and understand appropriate drawings, procedures and instructions.
Inspections & Testing:
perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of castings.Dimensional Accuracy:
Used for precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to check against blueprints.Defect Analysis:
identifying casting defects (e.g., porosity, shrinkage, cracks) and determine root causes.Documentation:
maintain meticulous records of instruction and results and test data.Process Monitoring:
Monitor melting, molding and pouring operations to ensure compliance with standards.Non-Conformance:
Identify and manage non-conforming, scrap or reworked materials.Collaboration:
Work with the production teams to implement corrective actions and improve processes. Required QualificationsExperience:
Previous experience in a foundry or metal casting environment.Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications.Tools:
Proficiency with inspection tools and nondestructive testing (NDT) methods.Communication:
Ability to report quality issues to engineering and production staff.Safety:
Knowledge of foundry safety protocols and regulations.- Must meet and maintain all requirements of Level I and Level II NDT certifications with appropriate specifications and be able to provide all training documentation.
