Job Description

Overview The PAUT Level II NDE Technician performs advanced Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing and other NDE methods on CB&I Storage Solutions' products across field and shop environments. This is a project-based position located at the Oak Creek, WI district. The role focuses on conducting PAUT examinations on both carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel weldments, performing supplemental NDE (e.g., MT, PT, vacuum box testing), interpreting and evaluating results per applicable codes, and supporting welding engineering deliverables. Responsibilities Perform Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) on tank and vessel weldments in accordance with ASME, API, and customer-specific codes and procedures Conduct PAUT on austenitic and dissimilar metal welds, accounting for material-specific challenges such as beam attenuation, anisotropy, and grain noise Perform supplemental NDE methods, including Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), vacuum box testing, and other surface examination techniques as required by project scope Set up, calibrate, and operate PAUT equipment and associated probes, wedges, and scanners Interpret, evaluate, and document examination results in compliance with applicable acceptance criteria and codes (ASME Section
V / VIII, API 650/620
) Accurately produce NDE deliverables, including scan plans, examination records, and reports per applicable design codes, company standards, and customer specifications Coordinate with welding engineers, project engineers, and field supervision to resolve NDE-related issues and support construction schedules Provide on-the-job guidance and oversight to NDE Level I personnel and trainees, as applicable. Effectively use document management systems and project collaboration tools Proactively embrace and promote the company's HSE requirements and culture at all times Local Requirements Project location in Oak Creek, WI Qualifications Certification in Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Level II with a minimum of two years of experience. Acceptable certification paths include Acceptable certification paths include ASNT (SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, or ACCP) or PCN (ISO 9712). TOFD (Time of Flight Diffraction) qualification or certification is preferable Demonstrated ability to independently set up PAUT equipment, perform examinations, and interpret/evaluate results per applicable codes. Experience with Olympus OmniScan PAUT equipment is preferable Working knowledge of ASME Section V, ASME Section VIII, and/or
API 650/620 NDE
requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer skills for data recording and reporting Experience with austenitic PAUT and familiarity with low-frequency longitudinal wave techniques and dual-matrix array probes are preferable Additional NDE certifications (MT, PT, RT, VT, SFT) are highly preferable Union Boilermaker membership or eligibility is preferable.
