NAS-Advisory Engineer Successful candidate will demonstrate use of independent judgment in performing calculations and/or designs and be able to present and justify analyses to regulatory, quality and safety reviews. Individual will possess superior technical knowledge of nuclear and mechanical disciplines and ability to work on or direct project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions and develop analyses to evaluate plant performance, safety, and reliability. Individual must have the ability to interface and work with equipment vendors as needed. Experience in reviewing and checking analyses prepared by other engineers is required. Must be familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry as well as possess working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations (including the NRC). Possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills. Routinely develops and delivers training in areas of expertise. Routinely interacts with organization leaders, clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers and officials, or other organizations and companies. Demonstrates skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. Excellent client interface/communication skills and understanding of the roles of other disciplines, as well as ability to coordinate and interface with other disciplines, are a must. A successful candidate must have experience presenting projects to both technical and business audiences.Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or appropriate science from anABET/EAC
accredited program, and engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.Experience Required:
Twenty-two (22) years minimum experience. For a software development/research role, an engineering PhD with superior academic achievement, plus 16 years of nuclear, chemical, petrochemical or sustainability (e.g., carbon capture, hydrogen, ammonia, energy storage) industries and specialized technical experience.Other Qualifications :
All applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. All applicants must have experience with mentoring/teaching personnel. Experience in the nuclear power industry is required and actual operating plant experience on nuclear plant projects is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of and experience in project scheduling techniques is required. Ability to reasonably estimate the required effort to complete projects is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes and to provide interpretations to others. Overtime work may be required at times. Ability to manage project schedules, budgets and assigned project resources is required. Ability to carefully listen is required. For software development roles, high level expertise with certain programming languages and techniques is required dependent upon the program Travel is required to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required. Certain positions at Numerical Advisory Solutions may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law. MS in an appropriate engineering discipline (nuclear, mechanical, or chemical) from an ABET accredited university is desired. Preferred Certification(s) or License(s)Required:
Professional Engineer preferred.Potential Technical Tasks:
Throughout the time in this position, the following tasks may be performed: Data and information gathering. Data manipulation for analysis input. Performing computations and analyses. Preparation, review, and consulting regarding Thermal-Hydraulic and Radiological Computer Models. Independently applies professional specialized knowledge of principles and practices in all areas of expertise. Uses creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems. Supports development of less-experienced personnel. Makes decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have an important impact on extensive organizational activities. Sets priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests. Works on programs with complex features. Supports business development. Lead a Software development project. Software verification and validation. Designs additional features to existing software or new software products. Develops new techniques and/or improves software development processes. Presents technical work to management and clients. Instructor for a course in field of expertise. Manage a Software product.And/Or Managerial Responsibilities :
Manages programs, projects, and associated personnel. Prepares proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs. Establishes engineering programs and associated objectives and requirements. Supports regulator interface. Mentors younger professionals on technical approaches, processes, and techniques, leading by example. Contributes to growth of younger professionals through formal and informal training.Professional Activities:
Member of industry organization preferred, leadership role or committee participation encouraged; technical presentations/publications support; recognized as engineering authorities.Position Location:
