Job Description
The Piping Engineer at Holtec International, through its subsidiary SMR LLC, supports the analysis and design of nuclear piping systems for the SMR‑300, an advanced small modular reactor developed to deliver safe, secure, and reliable clean energy. This role focuses on ASME Section III Class 1, 2, and 3 piping design and works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure systems meet safety, regulatory, and quality requirements, making it well suited for an engineer with strong piping stress analysis expertise, experience with industry‑standard tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a complex technical design environment.

Camden, NJ or Norh Pittsburgh, PA Primary Responsibilities:
Perform nuclear piping stress analyses using AutoPIPE in accordance with ASME Section III Class 1, 2, and 3 (NC/ND) requirements
Analyze pipe supports and coordinate closely with pipe support design teams to ensure structural adequacy and proper integration
Prepare, review, and maintain piping engineering deliverables, including stress analysis reports, isometric drawings, and line lists
Support Smart3D piping models and resolve piping layout, flexibility, and stress interface issues
Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to resolve design and analysis challenges
Provide technical support during fabrication and construction, addressing piping‑related inquiries and field issues
Review supplier and vendor documentation for compliance with design requirements and applicable codes and standards
Ensure engineering work meets quality, completeness, and regulatory expectations in accordance with internal procedures and governing codes Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, advanced engineering degree preferred
5 years of experience in piping analysis within nuclear or other regulated industries
Direct experience performing ASME Section III Class 1, 2, and 3 piping analysis
Experience with additional piping codes such as ASME B31.1 or similar
Proficiency with AutoPIPE
Experience working in SmartPlant or Smart3D environments
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Eligibility to work under 10 CFR Part 810
Familiarity with U.S. NRC
regulations related to nuclear design and construction preferred Working knowledge of pipe support design and integration with stress analysis
Experience with additional tools such as GT STRUDL, PV
