Los Alamos, NM Short Summary about

Job:

Leads and performs nuclear and non-nuclear risk and hazard analysis to ensure safe operation of nuclear and/or non-nuclear facilities. Specific duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to: hazard identification, hazard analysis, facility hazard categorization, accident analysis, selection of controls, and development of associated safety basis documents including unreviewed safety question determinations, documented safety analysis, technical safety requirements, safety assessment documents, facility safety plans, and facility safety analysis. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science with a minimum of 12 years of related experience. Equivalent education and experience appropriate for performing safety analysis work may be considered. Demonstrated Safety Basis experience, including experience with Unreviewed Safety Questions (USQ). Ability to obtain Q-clearance (active Q-clearance highly preferred). Must pass review by the Safety Basis Division Qualification Review Board. Must relocate to or currently reside in the Los Alamos, NM area. Availability to work flexible schedule including potential weekend days and overtime as needed. Preferred Qualifications Prior USQ (Unreviewed Safety Question) experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting nuclear facility operations, particularly plutonium facilities. Active Q-clearance.

Miscellaneous/Additional Information:

Per diem/relocation assistance available. Work schedule is flexible; must be open to Saturday and Sunday as potential working days. On-call and overtime required. A-Level access required; unescorted access required. Government vehicle driving expected on site. No travel outside local area required.
