Project Lead, Nuclear Inspection Operations (Reactor Services) Westinghouse Electric

  • $86,500 a year Advance nuclear reliability through precision inspections Westinghouse Inspection Services is seeking a project leader to orchestrate Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) at operating and new-build nuclear power plants.
You'll drive outcomes across both Reactor inspections—reactor vessel, head, and internals via automated/robotic delivery systems—and Balance-of-Plant work using primarily manual techniques on pressurizer and steam generator girth welds, Class 1/2/3 pipe welds, supports, snubbers, and containment liners and concrete. Role snapshot Lead all project phases for medium-complexity efforts or defined portions of highly complex programs. Supervise cross-functional teams averaging 10-30 members, including project controls and sub-project leads. Act as Technical Inputs Lead on medium-complexity proposal projects; serve as deputy project manager on highly complex projects with Program Manager guidance. Report to the Manager of Reactor & BOP Inspection Operations.
Home base:
Waltz Mill, Madison, PA; mobile position with 2-3 on-site days per week expected. What you'll own Planning excellence: Author robust project plans; define scope, schedule, and cost baselines. Execution & control: Deliver contract profitability; resource projects per department protocols. Manage scope, schedule, cost, risk, procurement, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholders with effective delegation. Translate and communicate contract requirements and changes via integrated change management. Produce/oversee cost forecasts and performance projections using EVM to satisfy reporting requirements. Validate expenditures against baselines and scope. Publish metrics and process maps to drive transparency with customers and stakeholders. Stand up databases, systems, and procedures to streamline correspondence and document control.
Closeout discipline:
Archive across financial, scheduling, document, and resource systems; finalize quality assessments; record lessons learned and risk avoidance strategies; recommend improvements.
Stakeholder leadership:
Be the single point of contact to customers, architect engineers, constructors, suppliers, Westinghouse in-country representatives (for international work), and internal business units.
Continuous improvement:
Proactively identify, evaluate, and implement enhancements that elevate project performance. Tools and methods PMI PMBOK-aligned practices, integrated change control, and Earned Value Management. Primavera, SAP, Active Risk Manager, and advanced Microsoft Office for scheduling, cost, risk, and reporting. Data-to-visualization techniques; database concepts for managing project information. Qualifications Bachelor's in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field—or equivalent non-degreed technical experience within industrial environments (field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas, construction).
Preferred:
Bachelor's in Project Management or Engineering. 1-3 years of project management experience, or 3+ years in a technical role within the industries noted; preferred: 2+ years PM experience in engineering, manufacturing, nuclear, or construction.

Polished presentation skills and fluency in cross-functional interactions (Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain).
Training:
Complete Westinghouse systems, procedures, and policies for assigned work.
Preferred:
Broad understanding of nuclear power plants; familiarity with utility operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, and materials management. Westinghouse Project Manager qualification in progress or eligible; external candidates will complete qualification within the designated time window.
Preferred:
PMI/PMP or equivalent certification.
Language:
Proficient in English; additional languages are advantageous. Helpful proficiencies Bachelor's Degree Preventive Maintenance & Inspection Machine Safety Inspections Engineering Degree
