Project:
Nuclear The Pipe Supports Engineer will work within the Piping Analysis team of GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH). The Piping Analysis team is responsible for performing analysis of nuclear safety related piping and piping supports in order to show code and regulatory compliance. The group services the new plants design team currently focusing on the
BWRX-300
Small Modular Reactor design and implementation globally. The Piping & Analysis team has strong interfaces with the Systems Design, Civil Structural Design, Reactor Design, and Integrated Plants Design teams. Essential Responsibilities The Pipe Support Engineer is required to understand, define and analyze pipe supports to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will be requested to:
- Utilize knowledge and experience to solve and deliver outcomes to customers
- Work cooperatively throughout GVH to develop approaches for solving technical issues. Communicate potential solutions and work status effectively to the organization.
- Provide leadership and technical direction to personnel and projects.
- Function as interface between sub-contractors and in-house engineering teams.
- Perform oversight activities related to pipe support design, analysis, and documentation.
- Prepare technical documents such as design basis documents and ASME design reports.
- Support procurement and subcontract activities associated with new plant projects.
- Represent GEH at industry forums such as ASME meetings and conferences
- Maintain and develop technical design procedures associated with piping and pipe support analysis activities.
- Procure, maintain, and facilitate the use of analysis software.
Qualifications/Requirements Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical or structural engineering (Other engineering disciplines may be acceptable based on work experience) Minimum 4 years of experience in pipe supports design and analysis Additional Desired Characteristics Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience Working knowledge and experience with ASME Section III analysis to subsection NF and
ASME B31.1
Experience with Piping Analysis Software similar to
PIPESTRESS, AUTOPIPE, CAESAR
Pipe Whip Restraint Design/Analysis Experience with pipe support/structural analysis software such as
GT STRUDL, STADD, ANSYS, LICAD
