POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead process safety initiatives in support of a zero-harm work environment at our refinery. In this critical role, you will drive risk mitigation efforts and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to address process safety issues across the site. You will serve as a subject matter expert on U.S. regulatory requirements, a champion for continuous improvement of safety systems, and a change agent who embeds process safety principles throughout the organization. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with U.
S. process safety requirements, including
OSHA PSM
(29 CFR 1910.119) and the EPA Risk Management Program (RMP).
  • Lead and support refinery process safety programs, providing technical safety and engineering expertise across PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, major accident hazard (MAH) assessments, and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Drive continuous improvement of process safety systems, workflows, and assurance mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective program implementation across the site.
  • Serve as a change agent by embedding process safety principles throughout the organization and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses, identifying lessons learned and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence of major incidents.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal, third-party, and insurance audits — ensuring thorough gap identification, tracking, and timely closeout of all corrective actions.
  • Partner with site leadership and HSE leadership to identify and mitigate key risks, advance safety management systems, and set, measure, and analyze occupational and process safety performance goals.

  • 12 or more years of experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering within oil and gas or chemicals industries.

(29 CFR 1910.119) and the EPA RMP Rule.
  • In-depth familiarity with MOC, PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, and major accident hazard (MAH) methodologies and industry good practices.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating MOC, HAZOP/PHA, and LOPA sessions.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies and incident investigation leadership.
  • Experience in contractor safety management, safety auditing, and emergency response.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
