July 2026 Overview We are seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to support a leading aerospace and defense engineering organization. This role is responsible for conducting system safety analyses, evaluating safety risks, supporting customer engagements, and ensuring compliance with military safety standards throughout the product lifecycle. This is a remote position; however, candidates interested in long-term employment should be open to the possibility of relocating to New York or New Jersey if the role converts to a permanent position. Key Responsibilities Perform system safety engineering analyses and assessments for complex aerospace and defense programs.

Conduct and document:

System Safety Hazard Analysis Reports (SSHAR) Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) Hazard Tracking System (HTS) activities Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) Ensure compliance with

MIL-STD-882E

system safety requirements. Review engineering problem reports and assess potential safety impacts. Prepare technical findings, safety documentation, and investigative reports. Participate in customer-facing technical meetings and safety reviews. Support System Safety Technical Review Panels (SSTRP). Collaborate with engineering teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate system hazards. Assist in the development and implementation of safety strategies and risk mitigation plans. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 7+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.

Direct experience performing:

SSHAR SAR HTS FHA

analyses Strong knowledge and application of

MIL-STD-882E

. Experience preparing technical safety documentation and reports. Ability to support customer interactions and technical reviews. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Aerospace, defense, military systems, or government program experience. Experience supporting system safety programs throughout the product lifecycle.
