Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking to hire a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer. In this role, you'll be part of a team that prevents accidental nuclear chain reactions—one of the most important safety responsibilities in our industry. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, contribute to real-world safety evaluations, and help ensure our operations meet the highest safety standards. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. At least 4 years of experience working in a DOE nuclear facility in a technical, safety, or operations role. Familiarity with DOE nuclear safety culture and operational protocols. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Clear communication skills and attention to detail. A safety-first mindset and willingness to ask questions and seek guidance.Preferred Qualifications:
Active Security Clearance Assist in developing and reviewing nuclear criticality safety evaluations (NCSEs) under the guidance of senior staff. Support hazard analyses and help identify safety controls for processes involving fissile materials. Participate in facility walkdowns to observe operations and verify compliance with safety requirements. Help prepare technical documentation and reports for internal and regulatory review. Learn and apply nuclear analysis tools such as MCNP, SCALE, or KENO. Attend training sessions and workshops to expand your technical and regulatory knowledge.Similar remote jobs
