  • Description This job posting is for an Electrical / I&C Engineer within the Robinson Engineering team.
This position provides engineering support for the site by resolving problems, creating and implementing engineering solutions, and participating in cross functional teams. This is done while utilizing a strong technical conscience and maintaining good questioning attitude. Nuclear Electrical Engineer I The Nuclear Engineer I position is the entry level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Nuclear Engineer I position solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision. A Nuclear Engineer I is expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. A Nuclear Engineer I has knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures. Nuclear Electrical Engineer II The Nuclear Engineer II position is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Nuclear Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. A Nuclear Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. A Nuclear Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. Responsibilities Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity. Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities. Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures, proficient in technical and analytical competencies. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Supports extended shift hours during refueling or maintenance outages Accommodates emergent work and effectively multi-tasks while keeping supervisor informed. Participates in technical training activities such as formal engineering mentoring and group specific training classes. Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities with other engineers and with other site work groups. Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally. Basic Required Qualifications Nuclear Engineer I Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. degree Nuclear Engineer II Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. degree A minimum of 2 years relevant experience Additional Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam Registered Professional Engineer. Direct experience at Robinson Nuclear Plant Proficient in engineering theories and principles. Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations. Good written and oral communication skills. Flexible and adaptable to various project implementation needs through the project life cycle. Experience in the utility industry. Working Conditions Safely performs field work in an industrial facility, which could include climbing ladders and lifting objects >25 lbs. Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance. This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty. Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires. Occasional overnight travel. Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation. Hybrid
  • Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.
