Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable Optical Test & Qualification Engineer to support our high-demand vendors. This is more than just a testing role—it is a hands-on leadership position. For a candidate who demonstrates technical excellence, initiative, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical data and business strategy
Responsibilities:
Drive Quality Excellence:
  • Play a critical role in optics troubleshooting and validation, ensuring our Fortune 500 clients meet the highest standards of optics testing.
Analyze & Optimize:
  • Compile and analyze scripts and test data; act as the primary lead for recommending changes to test methods and processes.
Strategic Sourcing:
  • Review and recommend the purchase of new test equipment and collaborate with external vendors to procure tools that elevate our services to clients.
Root Cause Analysis:
  • Lead the resolution of vendor-related test issues and equipment failures; identify and log root causes and present formal corrective action recommendations to management.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Refine test processes, tools, and methodologies while communicating plans to enhance production test yields.
High-Level Collaboration:
  • Act as a key technical liaison, requiring the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both high-level engineers and executive management.
Ownership:
  • You will own the testing lifecycle and guide the future of our testing operations and act as a technical authority in a high-growth environment.
Transceiver Testing:
  • Plan and execute comprehensive testing procedures for optical transceivers using thermal chambers, including smart optical network debugging, test facilitation, and cabling config.
  • Configure and execute Layer 2/3 traffic tests using Ethernet protocol traffic generators (Ixia/Spirent)
  • Assess the impact of temperature variations on transceiver performance, including optical signal integrity, power consumption, and reliability.
  • Liaise with third party vendors to complete qualification rounds
Test Automation:
  • Ensure full automated testing setup and maintain lab operations.
  • Develop and implement test Python automation scripts and tools to streamline testing processes.
  • Collect and analyze test data to identify performance trends and potential issues.
Testbed Debugging:
  • Independently undergo detailed debugging on networking equipment including optical transceivers, fiber patch panels, and high-end ethernet switches via
Linux CLI Inventory Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed records of test configurations, procedures, and results.
  • Keep records of incoming and outgoing inventories via Asset Management software
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of thermal chambers and test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Manage fiber network and maintain organization as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering .
  • Proficient in writing and maintaining Python-based code to automate test flows, control lab instruments, and log results at scale.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to interface effectively with senior-level engineers and management .
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in optical test engineering and transceivers.
  • Proven track record with complex testing of optical devices, specifically 400G/800G/1.6TB transceiver modules and switches.
  • Expert-level skill in setting up and running tests using Traffic Generators (e.g. IXIA), BERTs, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes .
  • Skilled at turning complex data into comprehensive technical reports and actionable executive summaries.
Pay:
$150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
