The Optical Talent Center at Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to provide design support for optical payloads. We are looking for someone to join our team with the guidance of senior engineers, and to collaborate and contribute across the design team. You will play a key role in design and development work on a variety of passive, active, and directed energy optical payloads, which present a diverse range of challenges. We are looking for a colleague with strong written and oral communication skills to present to a variety of audiences. Strong quantitative skills will also be key to success, with the ability to apply them to the formidable mechanical challenges of precision optical payload subsystems. Desired skills

• 2+ years of experience with developing mechanical solutions for optical payloads or working with related precision mechanisms and some optical experience
• Industry or laboratory experience with electro-optical systems including or related to remote sensing systems, astronomical telescopes, lasers, and laboratory optical diagnostic instrumentation
• Proposal writing experience
• Basis of Estimate, Cost estimation experience, to include cost volume/section support on a proposal and/or program baseline establishment

National Pay Statement Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
