Summary of Role:
As a Si photonics device engineer, you will be working on the development of Hybrid Si photonic devices for high-speed optical interconnect and sensing applications in 45nm & beyond.
Essential Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies on the SiPh device architectures by benchmarking against existing solutions, conducting theoretical studies by multi-physics modeling of device performance, designing the device, and working closely with process / integration engineering team on device fabrication using state of the art fabrication facility at GlobalFoundries, Malta. You will also be working to develop measurement methodology and apparatus to test and characterize the fabricated devices and perform experiments to demonstrate their ability in various potential applications in Fab8 Malta, GlobalFoundries.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
Required Qualifications:
Ph D's or master's degree with 2~3 years of working experience in relevant field. Degree must be in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or other relevant engineering physical science discipline. Background in photonics, photonic device physics, CMOS device physics, semiconductor processing, and photonic device characterization Strong data analysis skills and experience in automating data analysis methods Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written Ability to relocate to
Malta, NY Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in semiconductor physics related to photonic devices such as diode lasers, modulators, photodetectors, and passive optical devices Test and measurement automation tools for opto-electronic device testing Feedback control for lasers and optical systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong presentation and technical writing skills Ability to work both independently and in an interdisciplinary team Self-starter and highly motivated to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging professional environment Results oriented and focused on quality of work Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a global cross functional team environment. Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills Expected Salary Range $69,000.00 - $120,000.00 The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
