  • Technical leadership and customer engagement Position Overview Seeking an experienced Principal Propulsion Controls Engineer to support a leading aerospace customer in the development, integration, and advancement of engine control systems for propulsion gas turbine engines.
This is a high-impact technical leadership role for engineers with extensive experience in propulsion controls, engine systems requirements, and aerospace product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engine control system development, particularly within gas turbine or internal combustion engine applications, and experience collaborating directly with customers, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams. This position offers the opportunity to influence next-generation propulsion technologies while mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead requirements-based systems engineering activities for engine control systems, including:
  • Requirements analysis
  • Requirements decomposition
  • Validation and verification
  • Requirements change management
  • Develop and maintain system-level and component-level requirements for engine control systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in the design and development of engine control hardware and associated components.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, chief engineers, fellows, and industry experts.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to ensure system requirements align with program objectives.
  • Support strategic reuse of requirements, architectures, and features across multiple propulsion programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on development efficiency, cost reduction, and schedule performance.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Investigate and resolve field issues, providing technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis support.
  • Coordinate technical activities with suppliers and oversee technical deliverables.
  • Support program planning and execution using Agile development methodologies.
  • Serve as a technical consultant to leadership on complex engineering decisions and program risks.
  • Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience with propulsion engine control systems and requirements development.
  • Strong background in propulsion control system components and subsystem integration.
  • Prior experience supporting aerospace propulsion programs.
  • Experience working with Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing engine control systems for gas turbine engines.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine control systems.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engine architecture and operation.
  • Experience with ARP4754A and DO-178C development processes.
  • Understanding of the complete aerospace product development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading technical efforts within diverse and global engineering teams.
  • Strong project coordination and technical oversight experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound engineering decisions independently.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and technical challenges simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
  • Adaptability in dynamic project environments.
