Vehicle Systems Engineer (Electrical) Bay Area Rapid Transit $128,685.00
- $194,958.
Note:
The starting negotiable salary offer will be between $128,685.00- $154,129.

- June 19 The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Vehicle Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and dedicated Vehicle Systems Engineering Department.
- The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in railcar engineering. Troubleshooting and Diagnostic Skills
- They will have experience in diagnostics, equipment testing, and troubleshooting. Root Cause Investigation Skills
- They will possess the ability to investigate and identify the root causes of major transit vehicle equipment failures using established root cause failure analysis methods. Report Preparation Competency
- Demonstrate skill in creating reports and technical procedures. Train Control Systems Engineering
- Provide engineering support for train control networks and automatic train control systems. Vehicle Systems Analysis & Support
- Analyze and support vehicle door systems, HVAC systems, friction braking, and propulsion systems. Control Systems & Onboard Networks
- Evaluate and troubleshoot software-driven control systems and onboard networks. Auxiliary Electrical Systems
- Support auxiliary power supply systems and electrical/electronic components. Electro-Mechanical & Fluid Systems
- Work with electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Workshop Systems Support
- They will be comfortable working in a shop environment and working with component /electrical repairs.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Possession of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.Experience:
The equivalent of two (2) years of (full-time) professional verifiable electrical or mechanical systems engineering experience, or related experience.Other Requirements:
Must possess sufficient mobility to perform field inspections and investigations. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is preferred.Working Conditions Environmental Conditions:
Shop environment; exposure to electrical energy; travel from site to site.Physical Conditions:
Requires maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized equipment and vehicles; working or inspecting in confined spaces; working around heavy construction equipment; must be physically able to conduct field inspections and testing as assigned.Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of a comprehensive transit vehicle engineering program Principles and practices of mechanical or electrical engineering as they relate to transit vehicles Transit vehicle electrical and mechanical equipment and subsystems Computers and applications utilized in vehicle diagnostics Principles and practices of engineering specification preparation and review Materials and equipment utilized in testing and repairing transit vehicles Operational characteristics of various mechanical testing equipment and tools Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Related Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations Skill/Ability in: Performing a variety of transit vehicle inspections, maintenance and repair engineering duties Operating a variety of vehicle testing equipment in a safe and effective manner Providing a variety of technical information in support of transit vehicle operations Analyzing vehicle equipment failures and developing equipment design changes Preparing a variety of complex engineering drawings and specifications Writing technical safety reports Defining quality assurance criteria and inspection procedures for maintenance and repair of transit vehicles Understanding and following oral and written instructions Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Equal Employment OpportunityGroupBox1 The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District is an equal opportunity employer.
