Job Description
Job Description We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Electrical Engineer to support and evolve a complex, large-scale inspection system deployed in high-security environments. This role will act as a key contributor—filling a critical gap left by a senior team member—and requires a "jack-of-all-trades" mindset with strong ownership of electrical design, system integration, and documentation. You will work within a highly experienced team (many with 20+ years tenure) while helping modernize and scale existing systems as part of a major system refactoring initiative. Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical design efforts across system-level and subsystem components
Support reactivation and modernization of a large-scale MEP system (MEP 2.0 initiative)
Translate ambiguous or high-level requirements into clear electrical designs and subsystem specifications
Develop system architectures using block diagrams and progressively refine into detailed designs
Own full documentation lifecycle: schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, interface control documents (ICDs), and engineering change requests (ECRs)
Design and integrate electrical systems including:
Industrial control panels (NEMA enclosures, DIN rail assemblies)
PLC-based automation systems (IEC 61131)
Power distribution, sensors, and data acquisition components
Integrate COTS components (computers, networks, sensors, cameras, etc.) into cohesive system designs
Support system-level integration across mechanical, software, and operational domains
Design test fixtures and support validation activities
Release designs to manufacturing and support production replication
Troubleshoot systems using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.) System Environment
Large-scale, fixed inspection systems deployed at border crossings
Equipment includes sensors, traffic control systems, cameras, and X-ray scanning technologies
Systems span hundreds of feet and connect to centralized command and operations centers
Industrial machinery environment with high voltage, hydraulics, and embedded infrastructure Core Technical Focus
Electrical system design (analog & digital)
Industrial controls and machine design
PCB design (secondary focus; primarily system-level wiring and integration)
Power systems and distribution
Data acquisition and instrumentation
System integration and architecture using COTS components
Engineering documentation as a primary deliverable We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
