Job Description

Site Commissioning Lead - Utility‑Scale Energy ProjectsThis role is responsible for leading on‑site commissioning activities for large‑scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and high‑voltage substations. The position serves as the primary on‑site commissioning authority, ensuring electrical systems are installed, tested, energized, and validated in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and interconnection obligations.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute site‑specific commissioning strategies, procedures, and schedulesConfirm construction readiness and installation quality prior to commissioning activitiesLead cold and hot commissioning, functional testing, energization, and performance validationCommission PV, BESS, SCADA, protection, and high‑voltage electrical systemsIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, controls, and protection system issuesMaintain detailed commissioning documentation including test reports, punch lists, NCRs, and progress reportsCoordinate closely with engineering, construction, OEMs, and field teams to close deficienciesVerify system performance against design criteria, contractual requirements, and grid interconnection standardsAct as the on‑site commissioning point of contact for utilities, inspectors, and project stakeholdersSupport inspections, walkdowns, system turnover, and milestone completionsRequired Skills and CapabilitiesAbility to read and interpret single‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and SCADA documentationStrong planning, organization, and field coordination skillsAdvanced troubleshooting experience with inverters, controls, protection relays, and HV equipmentClear written and verbal communication, including technical reportingStrong commitment to safety and quality standardsAbility to operate effectively in fast‑paced, evolving site environmentsCollaborative approach when working across multiple disciplines and external stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent high‑voltage field experience7-10+ years of commissioning experience on utility‑scale power, substation, solar, and/or BESS projectsHands‑on knowledge of inverter systems, battery platforms, protection schemes, and NETA testing standardsExperience with transmission operator and utility interconnection processesProficiency with SCADA systems, PLCs, Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and commissioning software/toolsWorking knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, NETA, NERC, FERC, and utility standardsOSHA‑30 construction safety certification
