PSS/E Full Job Description Overview:
Kimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Power Systems Engineer in Training with 2+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. With a focus on serving clients within the power delivery and energy sectors, the Power Systems Engineer will act as a technical expert in the analysis of power systems transient and steady state. This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities:
Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, and write reports for various projects e.g. commercial, industrial and generation projects Studies performed may include (per candidate experience): Load Flow / Reactive Power Analysis Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or any steady state power system tool Transient studies using PSS/E and PSCAD Harmonic studies using ETAP, PSCAD or transient software Partner with the electrical team to create calculations and drawings for various project types Continually gain knowledge in power & energy industry Assist with project design, specifications, and plans support Review work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standards
Qualifications:
2+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferred Understanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologies General understanding of engineering and energy systems Load Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodology Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) Proficient with Microsoft Office Ability to work and manage several project teams concurrently The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment PE certification or path to move towards certification is preferred #LI-AT1 Why Kimley-Horn?: At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
