POSITION SUMMARY
The Low Voltage Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth by selling and scoping low voltage and physical security solutions, including alarm systems, access control, surveillance cameras, gate systems, and structured cabling projects. This role combines sales expertise with technical knowledge to design accurate, scalable, and reliable solutions for customers. The Low Voltage Sales Engineer is accountable for prospecting, conducting site walkthroughs, gathering requirements, building accurate quotes, and closing opportunities. This role also contributes to the evolution of SERTG's low voltage offerings by staying current on industry products, technologies, and vendors. The position requires strong technical understanding, attention to detail, and the ability to translate customer needs into well-designed solutions.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Low voltage revenue targets are met or exceeded consistently. Site walkthroughs are thorough, accurate, and result in well-scoped projects. Quotes are complete, accurate, and aligned with customer needs and company standards. Projects are sold with clear expectations, minimizing change orders and rework. Strong relationships are built with customers, vendors, and internal teams. Product offerings evolve based on market trends, vendor capabilities, and customer demand. Cross-functional coordination with project teams results in smooth project execution. Pipeline activity is consistent, with strong prospecting, follow-up, and closing ratios.
OBJECTIVES
The Low Voltage Sales Engineer is responsible for generating revenue, designing solutions, and ensuring accurate project scoping.
Core objectives include:
Sales & Business Development Prospect and develop new business opportunities for low voltage and security solutions. Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through close. Maintain pipeline visibility, forecasting, and CRM accuracy. Achieve monthly and annual revenue targets. Site Walkthroughs & Project Scoping Conduct detailed site walkthroughs to gather requirements and assess environments. Identify customer needs for alarms, access control, cameras, gate systems, and cabling. Document all findings clearly for quoting and project execution. Ensure all components, labor, and materials are accounted for in project scope. Quoting & Solution Design Build accurate, detailed quotes using standardized templates and pricing structures. Design solutions that align with customer needs, budgets, and best practices. Ensure proposals clearly define scope, deliverables, and expectations. Work closely with operations to validate scope and feasibility. Product Knowledge & Offering Development Stay current on low voltage products, vendors, and industry trends. Evaluate new technologies and recommend updates to SERTG's offerings. Understand competitive solutions and market positioning. Assist in standardizing product bundles and solution packages (Good/Better/Best). Collaboration & Project Handoff Coordinate with Low Voltage teams, project managers, and technicians for smooth execution. Ensure accurate handoff documentation, including scope, diagrams, and expectations. Support project teams with clarifications when needed. COMPETENCIESSales & Relationship Management Strong ability to build trust, develop relationships, and close opportunities. Skilled in managing long sales cycles and complex projects. Technical & Low Voltage Expertise Knowledge of alarm systems, access control, surveillance cameras, gate systems, and structured cabling. Ability to scope projects accurately and design complete solutions. Solution Design & Attention to Detail Strong ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions. High attention to detail in quoting, documentation, and scope definition. Communication & Presentation Able to clearly present solutions and explain technical concepts to customers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Process Discipline & Organization Maintains CRM accuracy, documentation standards, and consistent follow-up. Able to manage multiple projects and opportunities simultaneously. Continuous Improvement Proactively identifies improvements to product offerings and sales processes. Stays informed on evolving technologies and industry best practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
3-5+ years of experience in low voltage sales, security systems, or related fields. Experience with alarms, access control, cameras, gate systems, or structured cabling required. Proven ability to scope and quote projects accurately. Strong understanding of installation processes, materials, and labor requirements. Experience working with vendors and distributors in the low voltage space. Familiarity with CRM and quoting tools (ConnectWise preferred). Technical certifications or vendor training are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel to customer sites for walkthroughs and meetings. Prolonged periods of sitting or working at a computer. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally when reviewing equipment onsite. Pay:
$100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
