Senior Systems Design Engineer Luxury Residential + Commercial Technology Integration Innovative Sight & Sound is one of the Southeast's premier technology integration firms, with six locations specializing in luxury residential and light commercial solutions across: Home Automation Home Theater & Media Rooms Whole-Home Audio & Video Centralized Lighting & Lighting Fixtures Motorized Shades Networking & WiFi Security & Surveillance Outdoor Entertainment Golf Simulators Electrical Integration Select Commercial Technology Systems We design and deliver high-performance technology systems for some of the most exclusive homes, offices, hospitality spaces, and specialty commercial environments across the Southeast. We are seeking a high-level Senior Systems Design Engineer who understands how integrated systems are built—from concept and engineered drawings to installation execution and long-term client success. This is not an entry-level role. We need someone who understands how systems actually work in the field. Someone who can engineer complex projects, support sales teams, improve operational efficiency, and help us scale design excellence across all locations. This role is approximately 80% residential / 20% commercial , with primary focus on high-end residential projects and select commercial opportunities where design precision and system performance matter most. Why This Role Is Different You will: Work on complex luxury residential and specialty commercial projects Design systems across A/V, automation, lighting, networking, and electrical integration Partner directly with General Managers and Sales Representatives across all six locations Influence project profitability, labor efficiency, and field execution Help establish and improve company-wide engineering and documentation standards Play a visible role in a growing multi-location organization with strong leadership opportunity This is a high-impact role with long-term growth potential. Core Responsibilities
  • System Design & Engineering Develop complete engineered system designs for residential and commercial projects Create detailed system layouts, wiring designs, rack elevations, and functional schematics Produce marked-up plans using D-Tools Cloud, CAD, Bluebeam, Visio, or similar tools Design and integrate A/V, automation, networking, lighting, shading, and electrical systems into cohesive project solutions Support specialized projects including dedicated theaters, golf simulators, performance spaces, and advanced lighting environments Sales & Preconstruction Support Partner with General Managers and Sales Representatives to translate project vision into executable system plans Build sales proposals, scopes of work, and technical documentation within D-Tools Cloud Support quoting for all divisions including A/V, lighting & shades, electrical, and specialty systems Assist in product selection, value engineering, and system optimization to align scope, performance, and profitability Cross-Team Collaboration Coordinate with architects, interior designers, builders, electricians, and general contractors to ensure project success Maintain strong communication with Project Managers, field technicians, and leadership teams regarding technical requirements and design intent Provide updated documentation throughout project lifecycle and support post-project review for continuous improvement Standards & Continuous Improvement Help improve company-wide design standards, documentation processes, and best practices Stay current on emerging technologies, software platforms, and manufacturer updates Participate in vendor training, continuing education, and professional development opportunities What We're Looking ForRequired Experience 5+ years of experience in residential and/or commercial low-voltage system design Strong knowledge of home automation, A/V systems, centralized lighting, networking, security, and integrated technology systems Previous experience in a similar design engineering role or as a senior field technician strongly preferred Strong understanding of how systems are installed, commissioned, and serviced in the field Experience with platforms such as Control4, Lutron, and other leading residential integration systems Proficiency in D-Tools Cloud, CAD, Bluebeam, Visio, or similar design platforms Ability to independently engineer complete systems from concept to deliverable documentation Preferred Experience Dedicated home theater design and room layout expertise Acoustic treatment design and sound optimization knowledge Lighting design principles and fixture specification experience Motorized shading systems knowledge Commercial systems design experience including conference rooms, hospitality, and light commercial environments 3D rendering and visual presentation experience Personal Attributes We're looking for someone who is: Highly organized and detail-oriented A strong communicator who works well across departments A self-starter with a growth mindset Service-minded and solutions-focused Committed to quality and continuous improvement Comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities across multiple markets Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary +
