City Engineer - PE RequiredCentral Indiana, Greater Indianapolis Region | Full-Time | ExemptA Central Indiana municipality is seeking an experienced City Engineer to support planning, review, and oversight of public infrastructure and private development projects. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with municipal or government-adjacent experience who enjoys a combination of technical review and field involvement and public interaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesReview residential, commercial, and industrial development plans for code and ordinance compliancePerform field inspections and oversee public infrastructure and site improvement projectsSupport long-range infrastructure planning and capital improvement effortsPrepare designs, specifications, bid documents, and construction plansReview consultant work and monitor externally managed design and construction projectsProvide technical support to public works, stormwater, streets, and sanitation functionsCoordinate with planning boards, public officials, and local state agenciesParticipate in public meetings and hearings, and provide technical recommendationsSupport emergency response through a 24-hour on-call rotationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related fieldAn active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana is required5+ years of experience working in or closely with municipal engineering departmentsStrong knowledge of infrastructure design, construction standards, and development reviewAbility to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with the public and stakeholdersValid driver's license and ability to respond to emergencies as neededBenefitsCompetitive base salaryMedical, dental, and vision insuranceBasic life insuranceINPRS (Indiana Public Retirement System)PTOHolidaysBereavement leave457(b) retirement plansShort-term disabilityVoluntary life insurance and long-term disabilityFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Accidental, hospital, and critical care coverage
