The Full-Time Defense Engineer will have lead responsibilities, focus on problem investigation, component and transmission systems design, redesign, coordination of activities with Design Graphics, Analysis Group and Engineering Services. This person will also lead engineering design and validation programs. This role will also develop project planning and cost estimates in support of proposal efforts to foster the Defense business. Collaboration with suppliers and customers as well as Product team in support of OS activities will be required in this role.Essential job functions:
Coordinates the design, analysis, and validation of major engineering projects. Releases advance product components or line of products. Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies. Provides technical direction to support personnel. Coordinates supportive build programs. Coordinates test and/or development programs. Coordinates engineering projects with other departments or vendors. Maintains communication with vendors and/or customers on a regular basis. Prepare technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc. Other duties as assigned.Education required:
Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience Education preferred: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Required knowledge, skills and abilities: 3+ years' experience in product engineering Proficient in oral and written business communication Ability to generate clear and concise formal presentations High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult Deep understanding of engineering theory and principles of design Ability to work independently and with others In-depth knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches, controls (both hydraulic and electrical), hydraulics, & gears Ability to effectively work in a team environment Must be a U.S. Person or individual otherwise eligible to be authorized to work with export-controlled items or data [or perform services on military vehicles].
