Job Title:
Substation Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer to conduct engineering studies and perform design calculations for the installation of new and replacement substation equipment. This role involves physical substation engineering design, including creating detailed drawings and plans, and evaluating geotechnical information for substation designs. Responsibilities Perform physical substation engineering design, including general arrangement, electrical plans, and grounding plans. Create or review foundation and structural designs. Develop bills of materials and create material lists from engineering designs. Evaluate geotechnical analysis information and apply it to substation designs. Design or evaluate site civil plans specific to site grading, access, drainage, and soil erosion control. Understand, follow, and apply industry standards to engineering designs. Collaborate with multi-discipline project team members to achieve optimal design outcomes. Manage project documents and records effectively. Essential Skills 1+ years of applicable experience in substation, industrial PLC/electrical, transmission line, or protection & controls. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to various stakeholders. Ability to work cross-functionally with planning, protection, construction, and field personnel, as well as external contractors and vendors. Additional Skills & Qualifications EIT or PE certification is nice to have. Work Environment This position is based in our office located at 1230 West Morris Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. It is an office-based role requiring a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Occasionally, you may accompany coworkers for site visits, utilizing a company vehicle. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
