Field Service Engineer - Industrial Boiler Systems Merrillville, IN Full-TimeRemote$90,000 - $130,000 /yr Posted May 12, 2026 This is a Field Service Position that can have the opportunity to be remote based Position Overview The Field Service Engineer provides hands-on technical support for the installation, startup, commissioning, programming, tuning, and repair of industrial boiler control systems. This role combines mechanical and controls expertise, supporting customers in power generation and industrial environments. The position requires strong troubleshooting ability, technical communication skills, and a willingness to travel extensively to support field operations. Key Responsibilities Perform installation, startup, commissioning, and repair of boiler control systems in field environments. Program, tune, and troubleshoot control systems to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues using a systematic troubleshooting approach. Interpret and work from electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and SAMA diagrams. Provide clear technical communication to operators, plant personnel, and non-technical stakeholders. Prepare detailed technical reports documenting field work, system performance, and corrective actions. Support customers during commissioning and operational phases to ensure proper system functionality. Collaborate with engineering and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues. Qualifications Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial equipment or similar environments. Experience working in power plants, boiler systems, or industrial process environments is a plus. Knowledge of mechanical systems including linkages, drives, valves, and actuators. Proficiency with basic hand tools and power tools used in field service environments. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical and control systems. Working knowledge of electrical systems, including schematics, ladder logic, and control system architecture. Ability to obtain necessary clearances including TWIC. Willingness to travel to support field service operations.
