Posting August 2025 Start Date September 1, 2026 Division Facilities Engineering Department Union Affiliation Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) Position Number FY26-06 Supervision Received Energy Systems Engineering Department Chair Supervision Exercised Subordinate professional, classified, and student personnel in areas of responsibility General Responsibilities Tenure-Track appointment at the Assistant or Associate level will be commensurate with prior full-time teaching experience. General Statement of Duties:
The Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) Department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track teaching faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in Energy Systems Engineering. This position supports the educational mission of the Academy and the Department within the School of Engineering to provide high-quality educational opportunities to our cadets. The ESE curriculum includes applied engineering courses that focus on the engineering design of conventional, alternative, and renewable energy generation systems as well as power distribution and management. Please note that there is no research or publication requirement for this position. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves teaching and shares our dedication to excellence in undergraduate education.
Responsibilities:
Teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in ESE Department courses in Electrical Power Distribution, Energy Systems, and Energy Management, as well as core engineering courses in Electronics and Electrical Machines with associated Labs, as needed Be responsible for undergraduate laboratory instruction and curricula, including design of the quality, efficacy, and learning outcomes of experiments Advise, mentor, and guide cadets on individual plans of study and progress toward degree Opportunity to develop and teach new courses consistent with emerging industry demands and the academic goals of the department Participate in department and Academy-wide academic committees to continuously improve MMA's degree programs and support the academic mission of the Academy.
Qualifications and Requirements Qualifications:
Hold a Master of Science in Engineering by the desired start date Maintain a Professional Engineer license in any State, with the capability of receiving a Massachusetts license, by comity, within the first six months of employment Have excellent oral and written communication skills Exhibit an interest in mentoring and student development Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in engineering Have legal authorization to work in the United States by the proposed start date
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
Completed PhD in Engineering by the desired start date Have experience teaching the specific courses listed in the Position Summary in an undergraduate Engineering program Show evidence of teaching effectiveness Demonstrate relevant industry experience in Energy Systems Engineering/Management Have experience with 3D Modeling software Have teaching experience and/or relevant professional work and industry experience Salary $75,000 - $84,000 annually How to
