DC 3rd Class Steam Engineer / Stationary Engineer License preferred VA or MD HVAC Journeyman's License preferred Responsibilities The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of building mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems supporting FOX 5 broadcast operations. This role ensures continuous, reliable operation of missioncritical equipment while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements. The ideal candidate is handson, detailoriented, and experienced in commercial or industrial facilities operating highreliability HVAC and power systems. Operations & Maintenance Safely operate, monitor, and maintain stationary equipment including: Boilers, chillers (500 tons), pumps, heat exchangers Air handling units (AHUs), VAV systems, cooling towers VFDs, BAS/EMS systems Generators, UPS, ATS, fire pumps, and fire alarm interfaces Perform routine equipment inspections and operational rounds Interpret readings from gauges, meters, charts, and BAS trends Adjust controls to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable system operation Troubleshooting & Repairs Respond to service calls by diagnosing issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective action Perform corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with sitespecific job plans and company standards Support response to gasfired boiler, chiller, AHU, and power system issues Documentation & CMMS Document inspections, maintenance, repairs, and system anomalies Complete required work orders and service documentation using the site CMMS system Maintain operational logs and records in compliance with company and regulatory standards Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal codes and regulations Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements Support fire protection, preaction, and emergency systems testing Collaboration & Communication Coordinate with engineering, operations, vendors, and site stakeholders Communicate system status, risks, deficiencies, and corrective actions clearly Initiate followup actions as required to ensure system reliability and occupant comfort Emergency Response Act as a first responder for equipment failures, alarms, and emergency conditions Implement emergency procedures to protect personnel, property, and operations Professional Development Participate in training, certifications, and continuing education related to facilities operations Stay current on emerging technologies, best practices, and system upgrades Qualifications High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6+years of facilities maintenance experience. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety. Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
