This position oversees aluminum structural castings including transmission cases, gearbox covers, 4WD adapters, EDM housings, and related subsystems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in high pressure die casting (HPDC), structural analysis, sealing strategies, fastener integration, and tooling optimization.
Responsibilities:
Lead global COE engineering activities for structural transmission components including housings, covers, adaptors, and sealing/fastening hardware. Mentor engineers and collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams globally. Oversee clean sheet and optimization design of HPDC aluminum castings focusing on strength, durability, manufacturability, cost, and leak free performance. Understand and interpret structural FEA, including stress/strain analysis, fatigue, thermal distortion, and optimization of wall thickness, ribbing, and geometry. Collaborate with sealing specialist for strategy development including surface finish, flatness, gasket compatibility, edge bonded seals, and RTV sealing methods. Support fastened joint specialist with reviewing structural joints Direct problem solving and warranty investigations addressing porosity, dimensional issues, leak paths, and structural failures. Drive best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement into structural technical infrastructure. Mentor engineers and collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams globally.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field 10 or more years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions, or closely related field Broad working knowledge of transmission architectures, including AT, CVT, and EVT systems. Demonstrated experience developing and authoring system and component level requirements for suppliers Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities, with confidence presenting to senior and executive leadership Ability to travel globally to suppliers and Stellantis transmission and vehicle assembly plants
Preferred Qualifications:
