Job Description
Step into a Day on the Road You wake up in a new city, grab your toolkit, and head straight to a customer site. By mid-morning, you're deep into diagnostics on a Mitsubishi Sinker EDM, tracing faults across electrical and mechanical systems. After lunch, you're rebuilding a subassembly, validating with measurements, and closing the loop with clear documentation. Before the day ends, you're on the phone helping another customer troubleshoot remotely. That's a typical day as our CNC Sinker EDM Service Engineer. Role Overview In this customer-facing role, you'll apply advanced mechanical and electrical know-how to troubleshoot, repair, modify, and test Mitsubishi machining products. This position travels 100% of the time, Monday-Friday. Travel is primarily across the United States, with occasional international assignments. Support is delivered on-site at customer facilities and, when appropriate, via telephone. We invest in training and long-term growth, and we're proud of our employee longevity and exceptional customer retention. What You'll Tackle Visit customer locations to diagnose complex issues and complete on-site repairs. Disassemble, rebuild, and align mechanical and electrical machine components as needed. Provide remote troubleshooting and technical guidance by phone. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers at every step. Interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze root causes and resolve faults. Capture detailed records of problems found, corrective actions, and parts used. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Working knowledge of mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code/M-code) is a plus. Comfort using Windows-based computers and common software tools. Strong written and verbal communication; thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven setting. Extensive travel required; valid driver's license required. Education & Experience Two-year Electronic or Technical degree, or equivalent hands-on experience. Proficiency with electrical measurement and inspection tools (voltmeter, oscilloscope, and related test equipment). Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems. Skilled with precision mechanical metrology (dial indicators, micrometers, calipers). Working Conditions The job is primarily indoors but may involve exposure to changing weather (heat, cold, wind, rain, sun). You'll work near moving mechanical equipment with moderate to loud noise. Expect significant driving and overtime. You must be able to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license. Physical Requirements Frequent bending at the waist, upper-body twisting, standing, speaking, hearing, and kneeling. Repetitive hand use including squeezing, keyboarding, and crouching. Frequent lifting/carrying of 1-10 lbs, recurrent lifting of 11-20 lbs, and occasional lifting/carrying of 21-50+ lbs. Constant pushing/pulling of 1-50 lbs and infrequent pushing/pulling over 50 lbs with handcarts or other wheeled aids. Strong visual and color acuity are essential.
