Job Description
The Opportunity A long established, award winning, 100% employee owned engineering, architecture, construction, environmental, and consulting firm is seeking a Transmission Engineer to join its Transmission & Distribution practice in Minneapolis. This organization is known for delivering reliable, high quality infrastructure solutions while fostering a collaborative, ownership driven culture that supports long term career growth. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team to design and support overhead and underground high voltage transmission projects from concept through construction. This position is well suited for a detail oriented engineer who enjoys technically complex work, values quality and collaboration, and wants to grow their career in an employee owned environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform transmission line design from conceptual planning through final design for overhead and underground projects.
Prepare, modify, and review transmission components, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
Conduct conductor selection studies, grounding and lightning performance analyses, and electrical clearance calculations in accordance with applicable codes.
Support project teams with design updates, client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and construction coordination.
Perform field inspections and provide technical support throughout the construction process.
Key QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program (Engineering Technology accepted with FE completion).Minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission engineering (5 years preferred); prior consulting experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated, hands on experience using
Working knowledge of transmission engineering principles, including NESC and applicable federal and regional standards.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
