Job Description

What your day looks like You start by opening the reliability dashboard, scanning for spikes in downtime and maintenance spend.
A pattern emerges:
a chiller and a pair of air compressors have been cycling abnormally. By mid-morning, you've prioritized those assets for a deep dive, convened a quick huddle with Maintenance and Automation, and scheduled vibration analysis and thermography routes. After lunch, you're drafting a Management of Change (MOC) proposal for a process water system upgrade—making sure the design is reliable and maintainable from day one. By late afternoon, you are closing out a root-cause investigation on a recurring boiler trip and launching a permanent corrective action. Before you leave, you log a new continuous improvement (CI) project aimed at boosting uptime across high purity gas delivery systems. Impact you'll make Champion facilities equipment reliability across an optical fiber manufacturing operation—spanning HVAC, chillers, air compressors, process water systems, boilers, and high purity gas delivery. Lead reliability excellence initiatives that drive higher uptime and overall equipment effectiveness. Generate and execute reliability projects that reduce chronic failures and improve asset life cycles. Use downtime data and cost trends to target frequently failing assets and eliminate repeat issues. Participate in the Management of Change process for new or modified utilities/facilities equipment—ensuring designs are robust, maintainable, and reliable from day one. Run and lead failure investigations; identify underlying causes and implement permanent, preventative solutions. Build and refine PM and PdM strategies with Maintenance using vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing, and oil analysis. Work closely with technical staff and Maintenance to mitigate recurring breakdowns through data-driven strategies. Maximize production equipment effectiveness with a focus on safety, availability/uptime, and readiness for strategic growth. Partner regularly with Automation, Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to tackle both immediate issues and long-horizon improvements. Identify, lead, and support CI projects throughout the facility. What you'll bring Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, or related field preferred). 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or maintenance. Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred; Kaizen experience is a plus. Strong analytical capability with statistical tools and data interpretation. Excellent communication and collaborative working style. Change agent mindset with energy, positivity, and disciplined prioritization.
