Entry-Level Power Distribution Engineer Job Description The Entry-Level Power Distribution Engineer supports the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Responsibilities Assist in the design and layout of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and equipment sizing to ensure reliable and efficient power distribution. Support the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, field engineers, and utility representatives, to support project execution. Conduct site visits to gather field data, verify existing conditions, and support construction activities. Ensure that designs and project deliverables comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and safety regulations. Participate in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting activities under the guidance of senior engineers. Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and power system analysis programs to develop and review design documents. Contribute to continuous improvement by applying engineering principles and feedback from senior team members to enhance design quality and efficiency. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline. Foundational knowledge of power distribution concepts and distribution design principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to engineering calculations and design tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for preparing documentation and collaborating with project teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, documentation, and reporting. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing effectively as part of a project team. Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within the power distribution field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software for preparing and reviewing engineering drawings. Work Environment The work environment combines office-based engineering tasks with occasional site visits to residential, commercial, and industrial locations. Site visits may involve walking through active construction or utility environments, observing existing electrical infrastructure, and gathering field data. The schedule typically follows standard business hours, with additional time as needed to meet project deadlines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
