About Overwatch Mission Critical Overwatch is a service-disabled Veteran-owned small business (SDVOB) certified through the national veterans business development council (NVBDC), offering construction professional services, talent acquisition, and general contractor for the mission-critical infrastructure industry. Our mission is the construction and management of state-of-the-art data centers with the precision and reliability this industry demands. From high-end engineers to seasoned professionals, we deploy the people you need to get your data center off the ground. At Overwatch, it's more than a job. It's purpose. Job Description 1. Utility + On-Site Power Generation Integration Lead commissioning of on-site microgrid systems , including: Gas turbine / generator plants (primary generation) Medium-voltage distribution (MV switchgear, substations) Synchronization and load-sharing systems Validate islanded operation capability (campus runs independent of grid) Oversee black start and resiliency testing scenarios Coordinate commissioning between: Power generation EPCs. Data center electrical contractors. Controls/SCADA integrators. 2. High-Voltage & Medium-Voltage Distribution Systems Commission and validate: HV/MV substations. Switchyards and step-down transformers. Ring bus / redundant distribution topology. Perform energization sequencing planning across campus phases. Ensure proper protection coordination and relay testing Validate fault scenarios and system selectivity. 3. Building-Level Electrical Infrastructure Across each data center (repeatable across phases): UPS systems (static + potentially rotary depending on design).
STS / ATS
systems. PDUs / RPPs / busway systems. Backup diesel generators (tier redundancy). Grounding and bonding systems.Responsibilities:
Oversee Level 1-5 commissioning. Validate redundancy (N, N+1, 2N architectures). Execute failure mode testing (FMT) and scenario-based testing. 4. Integrated Systems Testing (IST) - Campus Scale Lead multi-system integrated testing across: Power generation MV distribution UPS IT loadValidate:
Load transfers between utility/microgrid/generators. Failure response (breaker trips, generator failure, UPS faults). Coordinate phased IST across multiple buildings. 5. SCADA / Controls / Monitoring Systems Commission centralized control systems managing: Power generation. Distribution. Load balancing.Validate integration with:
BMS / EPMS.
Microgrid control platform. Ensure real-time monitoring and automated response logic. 6. Phased Campus Delivery Strategy Support multi-phase buildout (building-by-building delivery)Ensure:
Early buildings are operational while later phases are under construction.Manage:
Temporary power conditions. Tie-ins between phases. Expansion without downtime. 7. Vendor & OEM Coordination (Critical on This Project) Interface with OEMs for: Turbines / generators. UPS (Schneider, Vertiv, ABB likely). Switchgear manufacturers.Witness and validate:
Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Ensure OEM sequences align with commissioning scripts. 8. Risk Mitigation & Mission-Critical Reliability Identify risks tied to: Microgrid instability. Synchronization failures. Load imbalance across buildings.Develop contingency plans for:
Power failure scenarios. Commissioning delays impacting go-live. Ensure compliance with Tier-level uptime expectations. 9. Documentation, Turnover & Operations Integration Oversee development of: Commissioning reports. Test scripts & results. As-built electrical documentationSupport:
Operations training (especially microgrid operations). Handover to data center ops teams. Ensure systems meet AI workload reliability demands. 10. Stakeholder Coordination (Very Heavy on This Job) Work across: Development team. BorderPlex infrastructure partners. Power plant developers. General contractors & trades. Act as technical authority on electrical commissioning strategy. Required Experience Needed 7+ years of experience in commissioning, electrical engineering, or mission-critical construction. Strong background in data centers or mission-critical infrastructure.Hands-on experience with:
UPS systems. Medium/low voltage switchgear. Backup generators. Power distribution systems. Experience leading or supportingFAT / SAT / IST
/ Level 1-5 commissioning. Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines and construction documents. Experience working with GCs and commissioning agents (CxA).STRONG PREFERENCE FOR A MORE ELECTRICAL BIASED INDIVIDUAL.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment This position operates primarily in an active data center construction environment, encompassing both indoor and outdoor work settings. The role requires the physical ability to perform essential job functions safely and effectively in a dynamic environment that includes ongoing construction activity and evolving site conditions. The work environment includes areas and temporary structures owned, leased, or controlled by third parties over which Overwatch may have limited or no control. Because the project remains under construction, certain areas of the site — including access routes, staging zones, and temporary structures — may not yet be fully ADA-compliant until construction is complete or those third-party areas are finalized.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces. Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors. Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments. Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required. Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in and around active construction areas, which may include unfinished buildings, temporary field offices, staging areas, and partially completed infrastructure. These locations may contain uneven surfaces, limited accessibility, and other conditions typical of construction projects prior to final completion. Overwatch does not control and cannot modify accessibility conditions within areas, facilities, or temporary structures owned or managed by third parties.Reasonable Accommodation:
